The Power Connectors Leaders Program for Africa, South East Asia and India
Invest in a new group of young leaders who will ensure clean electricity connections in their communities, Local government and States within Africa, South East Asia and India.
The Power Connectors Leaders Program
The Power Connectors Leaders program will invest in a new group of young leaders who will ensure clean electricity connections in their communities, Local government and States within Africa, South East Asia and India.
Africa, India and South East Asia and are the regions with the highest levels of poor electricity access globally. 600 million persons lack access to electricity in Africa, 304 million in India and 65 million in South East Asia respectively.
Climate change is disrupting economies but importantly, low or no access to electricity is accelerating poverty. In Africa, parts of South East Asia and India, lack of electricity is a matter of urgency. And so Renewable energy is not just one stone that tackles the two birds, but access to knowledge on the technicalities and business aspects promotes faster energy transition and accelerate access to green jobs.
Program Outline
The Power Connectors will receive specialised training on how to manufacture and assemble a solar panel, designing a solar power system for any type of load and the rooftop installation of solar panels in order to create and deploy sustainable electricity within the regions that lack them through their own businesses or as skilled workforce.
Solar Skills Empowerment
The leaders will receive access to intensive training, work opportunities, mentoring and networks in the solar power industry.
Nigeria's Pilot Project with Community Leaders
This project will be piloted in Nigeria in November 2023 with initial 25 leaders each representing electricity deficient communities.
Electricity for All: Empowering Leaders with Knowledge
The mandate for each leader is to use specific knowledge gained to provide electricity in the areas that lack them in their communities or local governments.
Year-Long Leadership Mentoring
All leaders will receive a 1 year mentoring,
The Rationale for Africa (The Africa Case)
Africa has the strongest solar potential in the world. The continent also leads in the largest deposits of natural resources like gas and other minerals.
But low investments into Africa’s renewable energy space is one of the biggest obstacles to deploying clean technology and combating climate change. The biggest emmitters G20 have been tasked with funding Africa’s clean energy transition, starting from the 2009, the 100 billion dollar pledge per year to developing countries per year, but they have never met up with this pledge in any single year.
There is a strong need to promote energy access in Africa – but that will not happen if we keep importing solar panel. 600 million Africans are without electricity access. 50 % percent of who are youths. We can accelerate access faster if the people themselves who feel this lack of electricity in various communities, especially youths are given the tools of trade and training needed to change their own fortune.

Engr. Solomon Uche
Technical Administrator, RETTI Solar Panel Factory
Solomon Uche's Profile
I'm an expert solar panel designer and builder. My interest in electrical engineering and handson coupling of products started at a very young age with the love to design hand tools which prompted me to take my passion higher to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
My work experience has prepared me for a career as a solar technical project designer and educator. My rich experience as a site installer, solar energy facilitator at Abia State University Uturu Center for Entrepreneurship gave me a deep understanding of student management and market opportunities for solar power as a business. Having worked with ETPM Nigeria as a Battery Regeneration Technician, High Tech Center for Nigerian Women & Youths (NGO), SunKing solar and as a sales expert with Fenix International, My understanding of the solar components and opportunities for business has improved, giving me a first hand knowledge of teaching about this.
I was part of the pioneering team who set up the Physics and Solar Energy Department of the Gateway Polytechnic, Ogun State and was the expert who trained their trainers.
I currently works as a technical administrator for the Renewable Energy Technology Training Institute’s solar panel assembly factory. I also teach same at the institute.
What Our Graduates Are Saying
Meet Enoch Momodu. A former banker. After his training, he was inducted into the alumni association and automatically gains access to the Growth Support Plan through which he has received guidance, proffessional advisory and support for how to start his renewable energy business. Through this support, he has now established his company – ASKO SOLAR and ELECTRICAL SERVICES ENTERPRISE. And has vowed to spread the good news to his former bank and help connect them via solar.

Over the past two weeks, I've transformed from a complete novice to a professional in the photovoltaic field. Initially skeptical about the free training, I decided to give it a chance, and I’m glad I did. The training was highly effective, equipping me with knowledge in solar installation, design, as well as panel, battery, and charge controller sizing.
I was able to get a gig to maintain client installation by refilling drain batteries with distilled water.
Gideon Okubanjo
Alumnus
The two weeks training at RETTI was eye opening and enlightening. With my passion for renewable energy, I was able to learn the theory and practical aspect of solar installation.
Thanks to RETTI, I can comfortably do a system design for any industry.

If there is another word above Excellent, Superb and so on I can use to qualify the service rendered by RETTI, I would have used it but trust me and quote me. In terms of respect, they are the best. They respect everyone. In terms of knowledge they impacted in me and my colleagues both soft skills and hard skills, they are the best. In terms of their trainers, they are the best. Practical aspects, you can't get it better anywhere other than them. In short, they are the best I have ever come in contact with because with few days training with them, I can call myself a Solar Photovoltaic System Engineer/Expert.
