Chukwudum is a London based writer and bookseller. He retired from the Metropolitan Police Service in London in 2016, after a 30-year career spanning across Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He is passionate about environmental and global climate issues. He has been a lifelong supporter of World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) and holds life membership of Green Peace and Anti-Slavery International. He began his police career in Nigeria’s Niger Delta where he witnessed first hand the ravages of oil-spillage spillage environmental devastation and the impact on local communities.
In the 1990s during a career break, he worked with Niger Delta environmental and human rights activists and undertook a tour of Nigeria’s Niger-Delta and Oil Producing States. His travels and experiences during this period formed the basis for his book, “Laments on the Niger-Delta”.
Since the inception of RETTI he has been actively engaged with the institute in various capacities as an advisor, facilitator and ambassador. He has been a passionate supporter of organisations created or led by young leaders in Nigeria and has been active in social causes in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He is a recipient of the Anne Frank Moral Courage Award UK (2003).
